Experimental study of direct contact condensation of spent vapor in a cocurrent flow packed tower under negative pressure

Condensers are often required in power generation systems to condense the exhaust steam generated at end of turbine. This paper will investigate enhanced condensation process spent a parallel flow type. The operating parameters temperature (Tcond), rate (Gin), cooling water (Tin), and (Lw) affect effect by changing gas–liquid arrangement tower. In this experiment, an orthogonal test was designed Raschig ring significance these four on experimental results. Different types packings have different effects due accumulation methods. same type packing has surface area, resulting contact areas between gas liquid phases during condensation. be investigated find their performance. uses size subcooling (ΔT) as indicator evaluate effectiveness condensation, values (R), number phase heat transfer units (NTUL), total volume coefficient (Kv) used reference for results show that overall regular is better than random packing, average 95%, 90%, about three five smaller 1.5 times packing. And fitting Kv data packings, empirical formula obtained can predict other packings.
